Telnet Erotika is the first release by Vektroid, consisting primarily of remixes of tracks by Daniel Lopatin's work as Oneohtrix Point Never or sunsetcorp. The EP was removed in November 2016, and in April 2017 was remastered and rereleased as Telnet Complete. The artist would later expand on the samples used in Nobody Here and Surfin Geocities with the pair of albums black horse and midi dungeon, respectively.

Description

SoundCloud Description

New Vektordrum EP taking on his new permanent alias "VEKTROID". Available for download on Bandcamp soon.[2]

2010 Bandcamp Description

Newest Vektordrum EP taking on the persona of VEKTROID and toying with the "chillwave" movement, reforming it into a throwback to classic computer culture in this immense lo-fi trip. I experimented a lot with different styles--in this, you'll hear a lot of electro and hip-hop influence, which is something I've never truly treaded toward at any point--I hope you dig this as much as I do ;)[3]

2010 Bandcamp Download Description

There is probably a four-track version of this EP floating around the internet by now. This is a draft version--mind you, it is officially syndicated and probably safe to download, but it's unmastered and the tracks aren't mixed either. It also lacks one track and is compiled in a vinyl tracklist format rather than a digital/CD format. If you want to listen to this album in chunks, the sides are, essentially, as follows:

Track 1-2: Side A
Track 3-5: Side B

Hope you enjoy this release. I am having a lot of financial issues and may be putting out my future releases in paid format, but I'm unsure of that. As a lot of you know, I am highly supportive of free music, so it will probably be on a donation basis.

Thanks for downloading![4]

here's my take on computer culture; an exhibition of my childhood obsessions finally being realized and quantified upon. this is the first time, after literally dozens of releases, where i've identified and culminated a true thematic structure that i'm happy with. in many ways it is very prototypical--this release was written over a period of maybe a month--but it's absolutely incredible how much i learned and explored via producing it.

i wrote this in fall, wherein our local climate was very quickly approaching winter. i had re-entered college after having been suspended for failing grades and was finding my mind quickly retreating into the pessimistic state that had plagued me since junior high. so, there's a major sense of duality throughout this entire release. there are more emotive undertones but it was also written during a period where, for the first time, i really allowed positivity and self-fulfillment to define my character, and not be controlled by stress and other demons. i made this during the first period of my life where i've ever been willing to say that i wanted to be happy and gave myself the true opportunity to let that become a general reality and not something i have to consciously force! i finally allowed "happiness" to be a natural thing for the first time. i think this release is hugely reflective of that.

producing "telnet erotika" introduced a real shift for me, not only psychologically, however, but in the engineering itself. i really changed my approach with this release. this is my first piece where i've been truly focused on creating good music rather than simply experimenting with various genres, and i'm absolutely flattered by the response this release has seen in the five months it's been available. maybe i'll expand on some of the songs found in this ep, but otherwise--on a personal level--it's immortalized itself as an indicator--if not a reminder--of one of the most immensely important and positive changes i've embarked on in my short time here. i really don't want to lose sight of that

Ded. to 0PN[6]

Motions Feel

Cosmic slow jam inspired by Sunsetcorp.

Virgin Pegasus

New wave slasher music. Most suitable as accompaniment on the way to the video rental shop to pick up some VHS nasties.

Surfin Geocities

An electro interpretation of some full-on dungeon master music. You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door. There is a small mailbox here.

I want to do a whole album of shit like this

Nobody Here

Went crazy on the sample manipulation here, big up to OPN for the inspiration behind this one.

Video Update

Time to take that slasher flick back to the store. That movie was weird as hell. You enter the store, hoping to find another for tomorrow night. "They sell games here?"

You pick up an oddball floppy. "Alter Ego?" You mumble the description on the back quietly, hand the creepy tattooed fellow behind the counter a few dollars and head home. You get the game running and play through from infancy to childhood phase. "That man hurts children." You cringe and restart. Slowly, you begin to doze off and wake around 3am. Damn it. I have class tomorrow. You glance at the screen.

"You have just passed through INFANCY. A brief look at your life up to this time shows the following:

Your family life has been:
Not very good. You seem to be lacking the bonds that are so critical during this phase of life."

You sigh and slowly crawl into bed.
