This album is gorgeous. At once relaxing and engaging, Coastal Outpost is a unique vaporwave easy listening experience. It seems to tell a story of innocence, ambition, loss, and then a pensive combination of hope and loneliness, as perennial elevator samba rhythms give way to introspective strains of ambient classical in a sweeping, yet gentle transition from days of sun-drenched optimism into the growing shadows of an uncertain and fateful sunset. Never does the artist stray too far from the sun, however, reminding us that the lapping waves of a dead sea against a lifeless beach are still beautiful.
