Description

Arguably one of the first artists to have created an album that fits into the current definition of the Mallsoft style of vapor, Hantasi has always managed to put his own spin onto every album he has produced. Layers upon layers of repetition defined Vacant Places, such as an envelopment of an otherworldly fog of carefully placed phasers, reverberation, and drawled notes defines No Disco.

There's almost a layer of tension that gets created by these techniques, the intersection of dreaminess and unease where the former rolls over the latter intermittently, like a tide driven by an outer layer of effects work.

While No Disco may be his most straightforward approach towards the Mallsoft sound present within his catalogue in a compositional sense, working around the traditional has given it an edge by virtue of its presence, its atmosphere. Tracks like Da Da Da exemplify this, an excellent piece brought to further life by sounds that flitter in and out of the consciousness of its background.
